SPK Indonesia Participates in ICA Conference Bali 2025 to Strengthen International Education Collaboration
Bali, Indonesia, 16–18 October 2025
SPK Indonesia participated in the International Curriculum Conference (ICC) 2025, held in Bali from 16–18 October 2025. The conference marked a significant milestone, celebrating the 25th anniversary of the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), and brought together educators, school leaders, and education partners from around the world.
The conference was held under the theme “Education Evolution 25: Adapting, Thriving, Transforming,” reflecting the evolving demands of international education and the need for schools to remain resilient, student-centered, and future-ready. The programme focused on three core pillars: Adapt, supporting schools to respond to global shifts and technological change; Thrive, emphasizing student and educator wellbeing and success in the present; and Transform, reimagining learning frameworks to create meaningful and lasting impact.
A key highlight of ICC 2025 was the strengthening of strategic partnerships within Indonesia’s education sector. Collaboration between the International Curriculum Association (ICA) and SPK Indonesia was reinforced through the introduction of an ICA Ambassador for SPK schools in Indonesia, as well as discussions on ICA programmes that can be further developed in collaboration with SPK schools. The conference also featured a partnership with ANPS Indonesia (Association of National and Private Schools) on the final day, broadening dialogue across national and international education communities.
In addition, a dedicated Early Years Convention was held as a parallel session for Indonesian early years educators, focusing on local best practices and practical innovations aligned with the SPK framework. The conference featured inspiring keynote sessions, including Melati Wijsen, Bali-based founder of Youthtopia, who spoke on youth empowerment and environmental action, and Wayan Sutrisna, a leading Balinese educator who highlighted the role of Transcendental Meditation in fostering focused, calm, and engaged learners.
Over the three-day programme, participants engaged in a blend of reflective and hands-on learning experiences. Highlights included the IPC 25th Birthday Celebration, tracing the curriculum’s evolution from a structured framework into a flexible, learner-centered model. Interactive workshops led by ICA ambassadors explored topics such as integrating AI and digital tools with purposeful teaching, applying LEGO® Serious Play® to promote diversity and equity, and using data as a lens for growth rather than as a judgment of student performance. The conference also launched a Professional Development Hub, introducing new workshops focused on play-based learning to support the International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC).
The event was supported by leading education and technology partners, including Faria Education (ManageBac), ACER, and Monster Phonics, showcasing innovations in curriculum management, research-based assessment, and multisensory learning approaches for multilingual learners.
SPK Indonesia was represented at the conference by Made, Yohanes, and Julie, who actively participated in sessions and engagement activities throughout the event. Their participation reflects SPK Indonesia’s continued commitment to professional learning, international collaboration, and the advancement of quality international education for school leaders and educators in Indonesia.
Through its involvement in ICA Conference Bali 2025, SPK Indonesia reaffirmed its role as a collaborative partner in the global education community, supporting schools in adapting, thriving, and transforming to meet the challenges and opportunities of international education.
